Led Work Lights: What You Need to Know

1. The Basic Information of LED Work Lights

Light-emitting diodes, commonly called LEDs, are real unsung heroes in the electronics world. They do many different jobs on all kinds of devices. They form numbers on digital clocks, transmit information from remote controls, light up watches and tell you when your appliances are turned on. Collected together, they can form images on a jumbo television screen or illuminate a traffic light.

LEDs have several advantages over conventional incandescent lamps, but their main advantage is efficiency. In incandescent bulbs, the light-production process involves generating a lot of heat (the filament must be warmed to illuminate). This energy is completely wasted unless you're using the lamp as a heater because a huge portion of the available electricity isn't going toward producing visible light. LEDs generate very little heat, relatively speaking. A much higher percentage of the electrical energy is going directly to generating light, which cuts down the electricity demands considerably.

2. How to Install LED Work Lights?

Professional installation is highly recommended. Modifications or damage to the product while installing is not covered under warranty and will void the return/exchange/warranty of the item.

  • 1. Connect the LED work light bar to a 12v bench tester or directly to your vehicle's car battery to check if the product works before installing it on your vehicle.

  • 2. Using the provided screws (3/4") and rubber washers attach the mounting bracket to both ends of the LED light bar and tighten with an Allen wrench.

  • 3. Locate the position where you want to install the LED light bar and use the 1.25" screws and bolts to secure the light bar to the vehicle.

NOTE: Be advised that the product is designed to be installed on a flat surface only. If mounting the product on a curved or uneven surface, we recommend using self-tapping screws instead for a better installation.

  • 4. Once the light bar is mounted, route the wires from the product to the relay switch. Tap the terminal wire to the positive red wire and tap the black terminal wire to the negative black wire. You can get some electrical tape to secure the connections.

  • 5. From the relay harness, you will be tapping the red wire to battery positive and the black wire to the ground.

  • 6. Then draw the switch part of the wiring from the passenger side to the driver side.

  • 7. Find the rubber cover on the driver side and open the firewall cover. Insert the switch from the engine bay into the car interior.

  • 8. Tap the red trigger wire to the headlight positive and the black wire to the headlight positive.

  • 9. Attach the switch to a good location and stick it with double-sided tape.

  • 10. Enjoy your new Off-Road LED Light

3. How to Choose A Best LED Work Light?

  • The first thing to look at in a separate LED work light is probably the type of light it is. Consider whether you need a spotlight, a floodlight, a flashlight, or a bar light. These types of light are each valuable, but not interchangeable. Once you have found a collection of lights of the sort that you need, you can begin to narrow your LED work light choice down to other features.

  • The power of the light is likely to be near the top of the list. If your work requires a high-intensity light, nothing else will do. In addition, the size of the device producing the light can be critical: in certain work situations, there is only so much room.

  • The work area will also be important in determining several other factors about the LED work light you are seeking. Consider if the light must be waterproof, or at least water-resistant. Also, think about whether the heat output is an important factor. Too hot a device can be uncomfortable in some situations.

  • The method for keeping the LED work light in position is another important factor. Work lights come in a variety of designs, including the flashlight model which has to be held or laid on its side, the bar light with a hook on one end, the light attached to a stand, the lamp on a tripod, the light on a pedestal mount, and the lamp on a gooseneck.

  • The power of the LED work light is another important consideration. If it runs off batteries, it is important to know the burn time and the recharge time. The way or ways available to charge the light might influence your decision. Other features that you may find include drop resistance, overcharge protection, rotation and tilt of the light housing, and multiple LEDs.
